Hank Bull & Eric Metcalfe, Patrick Cruz, Alex Turgeon, Paige Turner
We are invisible here. The world is invisible. We are invisible. It is gorgeous here. Paradise. Welcome to Sax Island.
November 17, 2012 - January 26, 2013
Reception November 15, 7PM
Curated by Eli Bornowsky and Larry Lazzardo

Sax Island is beautifully clean and pure. No one can see us here. We can observe the rest of the world by surveillance. Look at them fighting with each other, destroying each other. It is so awful, really awful. Think about it.

The writing appears more legible when I take my glasses off
(and my clothes off)
some call it the intimacy of the page, like
“she was a real page turner…”

An early video work by Hank Bull and Eric Metcalfe, Sax Island is an irreverent absurdist theatre of pulp fiction and low life eroticism. Here this fiction forms the ground for a selection of young artists working nearly 30 years later who have, knowingly or not, and in various ways, absorbed the sassy, saucy, profane and critical attitudes that gave Sax Island its iconic quality.
