Cathy Busby will discuss several of her projects including one of her best-known works, About Face, which was completed while artist-in-residence with the Institute of Art, Religion, & Social Justice at Union Theological Seminary in 2012. Busby was invited by its Director, AA Bronson, to address the collection of portraits of this 175 year-old institution, finding them both on the walls, in the backrooms and deep storage. Her work often begins with and probes that which is taken for granted, in this case the Union’s portraits. The resulting installation was accompanied by a 96-page artist’s book co-published with Printer Matter, Inc.
Cathy Busby is Canadian artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
