2. HOW DO I WIN PRIZES?
While we'll have some prizes given out randomly and others based on subjective criteria we've yet to invent, most prizes will be given based on the pledges you bring in. Basically, we have a list of goodies you'll get for bringing in $5 - $100 of pledges and then a whole list of fun and unique prizes for the top pledge earners.
The prize structure for raising $5-$100 is as follows:
$5 raised - Free entry to dance plus an artist edition button by Christy Nyiri, and entry into the raffle prize
$10 raised - Everything above plus double your chances of winning the raffle prize
$20 raised - Everything above plus triple your chances of winning the raffle prize and a free Or Gallery membership
$30 raised - Everything above plus a DO THE HUSTLE tote bag
$40 raised - Everything above plus your choice of two of four Or Gallery publications: Food for Thought, d'Or: Explorations in Psychic Geography, Goin' Solo, Tear (Phillip McCrum), or You're Here and So Are We
$50 raised - Everything above plus an Or Gallery mug and a copy of the artist book Cockatoo Island by Ron Terada
$75 raised - Everything above plus a copy of Cranfield and Slade's 12 Sun Songs record
$100 raised - Everything above plus a copy of the Vancouver Anthology, 2nd Edition edited by Stan Douglas

3. HOW DO THE OTHER PRIZES WORK?
In addition to receiving the prizes listed above, the participant that brings in the most pledges gets to choose first among our collection of special prizes, the second highest gets second pick, and so on until all the prizes are dispersed. We actually have a good number of these special prizes, so even if you bring in a moderate amount of pledges, there is a good chance you'd get one of these too.

4. HOW DO THE TEAMS WORK?
Organizing a team (a maximum of 4 dancers) is an excellent way to increase your pledge count. Team members can combine their pledge counts to compete to win larger team prizes while still being eligible to win prizes individually. So there is a chance that all four of you could walk away with a personal AND a team prize if you've raised enough. Not so shabby!

5. WHY SHOULD I COLLECT PLEDGES?
Besides the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes, you will be helping support a great non-profit artist-run centre and its programming! Collecting pledges is actually not a daunting task. Here's a strategy on how to raise $600 in 1 week:
Day 1: Sponsor yourself for $30
Day 2: Ask four family members for $30 each
Day 3: Ask five friends for $25 each
Day 4: Ask five co-workers for $20 each
Day 5: Ask five neighbours for $25 each
Day 6: Ask your company for a $100 contribution
Asking friends and co-workers for even small donations of $1, $2, $5 will help get you closer to your fundraising goal. Bringing in $151 instead of $150 can make all the difference in terms of getting the great prize you want! Also, remember that all pledges are tax deductible - though we do need full contact information in order to issue tax receipts and would ask that you only request receipts for contributions of $5 or more.

6. DO I NEED TO DANCE NON-STOP?
While we will not be monitoring how long you will be dancing, we do encourage you to stay and dance as much as you can over the five-hour period. How often you hit the dance floor and show us your moves is between you and your conscience and/or your sponsors. This isn't a dance marathon in the They Shoot Horses sense, but rather a dance-a-thon in the the tele-thon or walk-a-thon sense.

7. CAN I PLEDGE OR SPONSOR MYSELF?
Yes. You can even make up strange and mysterious names, as long as the pledge money is real.

|
8. WHAT DO I WEAR?
While dressing up is not required we definitely encourage you to get into the spirit of the theme! Not sure how to dress on the big night? Look no further than to our dear friend, John Travolta.
