Sweatband Gallery

19 March, 2005 – ongoing

Berlin, Germany (this is a roaming gallery)

The sweatband gallery is a sweatband. The owner of this gallery is Tamara Henderson. The gallery was bought at a flea market in Frankfurt in november 2004. The sweatband was originally a Michael Jackson sweatband. Artists are invited from all over the world to make an installation, embroidery , to ornament and decorate the sweatband. The Sweatband Gallery has its openings in conjunction with other galleries. For example, the first opening was with the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt to insure a good audience turn out and free wine. The sweatband can be mailed to the artist and upon its return the opening is arranged and the sweatband is worn for the month of the exhibiiton.

JACKSON AND GABLE, OPENING MARCH 19 2005
The Sweat Band Gallery opened its first show on the 19th of March, 2005 at the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt AM Main, Germany in conjunction with the What's New Pussycat exhibition.

The first show was by Tamara Henderson, Tamara embroidered the name Clark Gable over the name Micheal Jackson with flourecent green yarn. This piece was inspired by a dream where she found the sweat band, wrist variety, on the ground, and Clark Gable was emroidered over Micheal Jackson with gold thread. Henderson chose flourececnt green instead of gold becasue, it is a nicer color.
